Katy Perry ‘investigated by authorities’ in Spain over new music video

Officials in one European country are investigating singer Katy Perry over some of the filming in her recent music video.

Officials in Spain are investigating singer Katy Perry for allegedly filming a music video without permission.

The video for her latest single Lifetimes shows the singer enjoying beaches and partying in clubs on the islands of Ibiza and Formentera.

However, some of the scenes were filmed around ecologically-sensitive dunes in the Balearic Islands, and have therefore caught the attention of Spanish authorities.

A statement from the Spanish government alleged that the production company responsible for the video had not sought permission.

The regional government’s Department of the Environment said it is investigating possible damage to the dunes, according to The New York Times.

The department drew attention to one section of the Natural Resources Management Plan, which states that “photographic, cinematographic or videographic” material for “advertising or commercial exhibition purposes” requires written permission that must be applied for.

It added that while Perry filming the music video was not a “crime against the environment,” it did stand as a clear “infringement”.

Perry has yet to comment on the investigation by Spanish authorities.

It marks yet another blow for Perry, who has had what can only be described as one of the most disappointing comebacks in pop history over the last month.

Her comeback single Woman’s World failed to chart in Australia, and follow-up single Lifetimes has also faired similarly.

Despite the mixed reaction to her new music, it appears Perry is full steam ahead rolling out the album campaign.

Late last month she was spotted filming another music video for album track I’m His, He’s Mine, which samples Crystal Waters’ 1991 dance classic Gypsy Woman (La Da Dee).

Footage from the video shoot showed Perry cavorting with a male dancer, dressed in – what else – a G-string bikini.

Meanwhile, Perry is set to light up one of Australia’s most lavish sporting spectacles, with the beloved singer set to headline the AFL Grand Final carnival.

The deal will bring the singer back to the 100,000 capacity Melbourne Cricket Ground after she performed there for the T20 Women’s World Cup final between Australia and India in 2020.

Exact figures for the deal are not clear, but it is understood the AFL could pay out millions to get the pop icon on stage at the iconic venue.

It’s thought the former American Idol judge will belt some of her best known hits, as well as songs from her forthcoming new record.
