The one of a kind soul man burst onto the scene after releasing his debut album No Time For Dreaming (2011) at the tender age of 62.
He is the latest act to be added to the festival's line-up since WA's John Butler Trio was announced as headliner.
The John Butler Trio accepted the invitation to close the 12th annual multi-genre festival in their hometown following their recent world tour and off the back of their sixth studio album Flesh and Blood, which was released earlier this year.
Returning to Fremantle Park on March 29 next year, West Coast Blues ‘N’ Roots will also feature singer, poet and songwriter Paul Kelly showcasing his collaboration-based release The Merri Soul Sessions featuring Dan Sultan, Clairy Browne, Kira Puru and Vika and Linda Bull.
US ‘90s hip hop collective Jurassic 5, who reformed to play Coachella music and arts festival last year, Mexican acoustic Rock guitar duo, Rodrigo y Gabriela, US funk innovator George Clinton and the 22 member Parliament Funkadelic, and Australian musician Xavier Rudd and a full band, The United Nations, will play the daylong festival.
Rounding out the line-up are Jimmy Cliff, Keb’ Mo’, Mavis Staples, Beth Hart, Kim Churchill and Lanie Lane, with more local acts yet to be announced.
In previous years, the much-loved event has seen the likes of Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, James Brown, Paul Simon, Crowded House and Robert Plant take to the stage.
