Grammys wrap-up: What went down when the cameras stopped rolling
IN true Grammy fashion, there was plenty of salacious gossip to emerge from yesterday's 55th awards night in Los Angeles.
PROVING once again that the action doesn't stop when the awards ceremony ends, there was plenty of salacious gossip to emerge from yesterday's 55th Grammy Awards night in Los Angeles.
From boozing, bravado and awkward backstage run-ins, here's what our favourite names in music got up to.
We're hardly surprised that on-again couple Rihanna and Chris Brown created the biggest splash of the evening.
After putting on a show for all to see, loved-up in the front row throughout the ceremony, the pair hit up a private after-party at Hollywood hotspot the SupperClub and were reportedly spotted smoking pot together.
The couple were photographed happily taking turns smoking from the same joint with friends while the venue filled up with smoke, TMZ reports.
This didn't stop the rapper deciding to drive home in the early hours of the morning. After an impromptu duet to Rihanna’s track Birthday Cake the pair left the bash together around 2.30am in Brown's red Lamborghini.
The rebellious R&B singer is still on probation for beating up the We Found Love singer at a Grammys pre-party back in 2009.
Earlier in the night RiRi took the stage with Bruno Mars and Sting to perform a Bob Marley tribute. Ever the fashion rule-breaker, she revealed enough midriff to give CBS officials a stroke.
Back on the ground, Brown was given an earful by Adele after snubbing singer Frank Ocean’s Grammy win. Both men were up for the same award but a dejected Brown refused to get out of his seat as Ocean received a standing ovation.
Adele was later snapped backstage forcing a smile on her face and making nice with Brown for the cameras.
The 23-year-old Don't Wake Me Up singer missed out on the award for Best Urban Contemporary Album, and one celeb in particular, Zac Braff, seemed satisfied with the result. "So tired of Chris Brown being the worst. Someone needs to hurry up and try to win the title from him", Braff tweeted during the event.
"Chris Brown lost? Rihanna might wanna put on a helmet", was a later tweet from the Scrubs actor.
Meanwhile, on-again off-again couple Katy Perry and John Mayer snuggled up to each other and held hands throughout the night. Both clapped wildly as the other took the stage to do their stint as presenters.
Perry's daring cleavage-baring green Gucci dress seemed to defy all CBS dress codes and had everyone talking.
"Here I am taking a tasteful glance at Katy Perry's dress," Ellen joked on Twitter after the awards, sharing this snap of herself with wife Portia de Rossi ogling the frock.
The musical lovebirds attended the Warner Brothers Music after-party at the Chateau Marmont around midnight where they reportedly couldn’t keep their hands off each other while tucked away in a private booth.
But Perry’s romantic evening was ground to a halt briefly when some poor timing meant that she and Taylor Swift crossed paths.
The singers seemed to go in for a polite handshake but ended up in some sort of arm-lock as a friend of Swift’s looked on bemused.
Talk about an awkward run-in with an ex-partner and their current flame!
Even more awkward was that the 23-year-old country music darling - notorious for her breakup ballads - opened the awards show with hit song We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, which is rumoured to be about her relationship with Mayer.
Swift’s Alice In Wonderland-themed performance stirred further controversy when the singer appeared to put on a fake English accent mid-way through her song, appearing to mimic her most recent ex-boyfriend, One Direction band member Harry Styles, with whom she split from last month.
"So he calls me up and he's like, 'I still love you,"' she sung, briefly adopting a British twang.
Fortunately, the 19-year-old teen heart-throb wasn't present to witness Swift's not-so-subtle dig at him.
