Kool And The Gang, De La Soul and Roy Ayers are also bound for the NSW festival, which will take place over four days from February 17-20 at Wisemans Ferry.
Kate Nash, Caribou, Four Tet, LTJ Bukem and Norman Jay are among other international artists unveiled as part of the first line-up announcement.
Danimals and Hungry Kids Of Hungary are the only Australian bands so far included.
Playground Weekender organisers have promised to announce the identity of two more headline acts in the coming weeks.
Tickets for the festival go on sale from Monday.
