Cringe-worthy moment Fifth Harmony’s publicist interrupts interview

GIRL group Fifth Harmony weren’t in the mood to talk about a former band member during an interview and awkwardly forced their publicist to step in.

Fifth Harmony's awkward interview with Dan Wootton

A TWITTER feud has broken out between a journalist and a member of girl group Fifth Harmony after an incredibly awkward interview.

The singers were having a fun chat with Dan Wootton from The Sun (despite the fact they allegedly rocked up 90 minutes late) but things quickly turned sour when he asked them about former band member Camila Cabello who had a public falling out with the group when she quit Fifth Harmony last year.

“Do you think though that one day you guys will be able to be friends again?” Wootton asked the Fifth Harmony members.

But the question didn’t go down well at all.

“Like, what is this?” one of the girls responded, “we want to talk about our music, we don’t want to be shady”.

What happened next was beyond cringe-worthy as a publicist for the group interrupted the interview to warn the journalist.

“We’ve got to talk about music,” the publicist said.

“Is there a problem?” Wootton asked, “obviously it was a huge news story”.

“If the rest of the questions are still going to be about something that isn’t related to the new music, we’re gonna run out of time,” the publicist told him.

Cue awkward silence.

Obviously the topic of Camila Cabello is still a sensitive subject for the remaining band members.

The five girls met and formed Fifth Harmony during the second season of the US version of X-Factor in 2012

They didn’t win but made it to the show’s finals and unsurprisingly signed a joint record deal with Simon Cowell’s label Syco Records and L.A. Reid’s label, Epic Records.

In an epic final performance the girls farewelled the competition by singing The Beatles hit, Let it Be.

Sadly, the fab five fairytale came to an end when Cabello announced her departure from the group on December 18 last year.

The four remaining members: Lauren Jauregui, Normani Kordeo, Ally Brooke and Dinah Jane Hansen released a statement at the time and promised fans they’d continue as a quartet.

“We are four strong, committed women who will continue with Fifth Harmony as well as our solo endeavours,” the statement said.

Cabello has since explained why she decided the quit the group, telling Vulture in February, “I was always super open [that] I couldn’t just sing other people’s words and be totally happy with that”.

“I always encouraged the girls to do the same. We didn’t write our records. We were interpreting somebody else’s story. Fifth Harmony is an entity or identity outside all of us, and I don’t think anybody felt individually represented by the sound — we didn’t make it,” she said.

The Sun’s Dan Wootton tweeted about his “nightmare” interview with Fifth Harmony yesterday which led to a back and forth with band member Lauren Jauregui.

Not willing to back down, Wootten later tweeted: “After spending just one hour recording my new Bizarre Life podcast with FIFTH HARMONY, I can see why CAMILA couldn’t wait to leave”.

So. Much. Shade. Time to get your sunglasses guys.
