Music legend Stevie Nicks left some viewers of Fire Aid stunned for all the wrong reasons when she performed her classic ‘Stand Back’.

Stevie Nicks divided viewers when she made an appearance at the LA Fire Aid concert on Friday.

Just three weeks after several wildfires broke out across different regions in California, destroying thousands of homes, A-list performers have stepped out to raise funds for those affected by putting on star-studded benefit.

Everyone from the likes of Nirvana and Dave Grohl to Katy Perry signed up for the event, and legendary Fleetwood Mac star Stevie Nicks came out to perform some of her best-known bangers.

However, she got off to a rocky start, and her opening performance of Stand Back left social media divided over her vocals.

“Why do they keep putting old people on doing karaoke?” questioned one viewer.

“Time to hang up, Stevie!” remarked another after she had performed her first track for the crowd.

Another commented: “I wouldn’t want to see the state of her vocal chords right now.”

“I love her, she’s a legend, but her voice sounds awful!” wrote another, while one viewer added: “This is literally retirement home karaoke”.

Despite the negative reviews from a barrage of viewers, others still shared their love for the star who seemingly managed to return to form for her rendition of the iconic ballad Landslide.

“What a talent,” commented one user watching the live stream on YouTube, with another added: “That’s a legend right there!”

Elsewhere in the show, the surviving members of Nirvana, who weren’t part of the official FireAid bill, took the stage to perform with vocalists including St. Vincent, Kim Gordon, Joan Jett and Violet Grohl, the 18-year-old daughter of Dave Grohl.

It was a big moment for fans, after the last time they took to the stage together in 2018 at Cal Jam in San Bernardino, California.

Whenever the rockers have reformed over the last few decades, the band has usually exclusively invited female performers to take over the vocals

Explaining their reasoning behind this, drummer Grohl told Rolling Stone in 2014: “We thought, ‘Wait, it has to be all women. Don’t even ask anyone else. If we can fill The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performance with these incredible women singing Nirvana songs, then we’ll have achieved our own revolution.’ It also added a whole other dimension to the show. It added substance and depth, so it didn’t turn into a eulogy. It was more about the future.”
