HUNDREDS of fans lined the rainbow carpet as Justin Timberlake brought Hollywood star power to Sydney.
The singer and actor was the star attraction at Sydney’s Entertainment Quarter for the local premiere of his new animated film, Trolls.
“You don’t have to wear a wardrobe and makeup,” he said of voicing the character of Branch.
“You know what’s weird about voice acting is you actually use your body more because you subconsciously think people won’t see you so you have to make sure they feel the presence of the character. The beauty is you get to do it 100 different ways. Sometimes with live action you get done with a scene and you are like, oh man, I just thought of something that could have been interesting but you’ve already moved on.”
Trolls tells the story of Poppy (Anna Kendrick) and Branch, who embark on a journey to save their kind against evil creatures called Bergen.
There’s also a throwback to kids fairytale, Cinderella.
“It has its own message but can send up the classics and I think that’s what we were trying to do,” he said, wearing a Burberry suit and Christian Louboutin shoes.
The rainbow carpet was the perfect touch and Timberlake agreed the film was a good anecdote to the turbulent political times of today.
“It’s a little serendipitous unfortunately for reasons I’d rather not talk about,” he said. “But at any given moment it’s nice to put a message like we are putting into the world. It couldn’t be more timely. It’s a movie I was happy to show my son.”
Singer Dami Im was among guests walking the carpet, fitting given she’s voiced the character of Grandma Rosiepuff in the new DreamWorks Animation flick.
Other guests included The Wiggles, Tove Lo, Danielle Cormack, Miranda Tapsell and Ben Mingay.
