“Licking Lloyd’s fingers (after Lloyd has shoved them down the back of his pants),” said Daniels to the New York Post.

“I made one request of myself as I drove to Georgia to shoot this movie. I said, ‘You have to be fearless.’ When you’re with Jim and the Farrellys, there’s an outrageousness, and you just have to dive in.

“Licking the fingers? It didn’t matter. Jim could have put them where the sun don’t shine, and I still would have gone method and licked them.”

Due out in Australia on January 8 next year, the movie is the sequel to 1994s Dumb and Dumber, which Daniels said he almost turned down at the last minute.

“The night before I flew out to LA to start the wardrobe fitting, three agents got on the phone and said, ‘We’re gonna stop this. You’re not gonna do this movie,’” he said.

Thankfully Daniels followed his heart, and even though the sequel comes 20 years after the original, the chemistry between the two main stars is still there, well, according to Jim Carrey at least.

“Jeff is always super open and willing to mix it up and be a fool and he’s a guy who could just live in a classical world with what he does,” said Carrey to news.com.au.

“He’s a tremendous actor ... and one of the reasons why I chose Jeff in the first film is, I auditioned with a bunch of different people, and there were a lot of comics and a lot of different types of people, but everybody was trying to score.

“Jeff was trying to be my friend, and it was different, he was listening and we were reacting to each other and that was the key. The friendship is the bottom line, if that’s not there, none of the comedy works, you don’t care about the characters, and he’s the same guy and he’s humble and he’s a real guy.”

Dumb and Dumber has become a cult hit since it was released in 1994 and Carrey hopes that the public still has a soft spot for Lloyd and Harry,

“These guys (Lloyd and Harry) have very petty concerns and they don’t know enough to be weighed down by the knowledge and they haven’t eaten from the tree of knowledge,” said Carrey.

“So they are still in the garden. And I think people find that a relief, when they see somebody that is still in the garden.”

In Dumb and Dumber To, Harry (played by Jeff Daniels) finds out he has a daughter who was adopted, but things get a little awkward when Lloyd (played by Jim Carrey) develops a crush on the girl.

Much like his character, 52-year-old Jim Carrey is also single, but to be honest, he doesn’t really care.

“I have a lot of short relationships, people get mad at me because I can’t be in a relationship but I don’t know what the basis of it is,” said Carrey.

“I am sure that there is someone that will make me want to shut it all down and do that thing for sure ... but I don’t feel compelled to be completed by a relationship.”
