The 28-year-old appears alongside Brad Pitt, Scott Eastwood and Aussie Xavier Samuel in the World War II film, but none of those actors were as committed as LaBeouf according to co-star Logan Lerman.

“We were in make-up and they were putting cuts on Shia and I said, ‘Yeah, yeah, it looks good,’” said Lerman in the British GQ magazine.

“And Shia was like, ‘No, it doesn’t look real.’

“Then he walks out into the hallway and says, ‘Hey man, wanna see something fun? Check this out,’ and he takes out a knife and cuts his face. And for the whole movie he kept opening these cuts on his face. That’s all real.”

Lerman also revealed that LaBeouf had a tooth removed for the film which opens in Australia on October 23

“He didn’t do it himself, he did go to a dentist and asked them to pull his tooth out but yeah, what an odd request,” said Lerman.

Brad Pitt had nothing but good things to say about Shia LaBeouf when he spoke to GQ recently, saying, “He’s full on commitment, man”.

“He’s living it like no one else, let me tell you. I’ve been fortunate to work with a lot of great actors. He’s one of the best I’ve seen.”
