Point Break trailer disappoints cult fans

IT seems fans have caught on to the fact that this remake is going to be very different to the cult classic while others seem annoyed the movie makers have meddled with a classic.

IT seems only right that the remake of cult surfer movie, Point Break, should have two Aussie actors in it.

Former Home and Away star Luke Bracey and Adelaide actress Teresa Palmer are representing the strong Australian surfing culture in the upcoming film.

There’s just one catch, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of surfing going on if the trailer is anything to go by, instead the remake seems to focus on multiple extreme sports.

Bracey plays the part of Johnny Utah, originally the role Keanu Reeves took on in the first movie, while Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez is Bodhi, originally played by Patrick Swayze.

Utah is an FBI agent who also happens to be a dab hand at extreme sports. This comes in pretty handy when he offers to go undercover and infiltrate a group of guys who have been “liberating” money via extreme methods.

The mean-looking robbers have moved beyond surfing to skydiving, snowboarding and rock climbing without a harness.

“I believe that like me, the people behind these robberies are extreme athletes, using their skills to disrupt the international financial markets. And they don’t care who gets killed in the process,” Bracey”s Utah tells his FBI colleagues.

There is definitely still some surfing to be seen, and it looks like it’s Palmer who is riding a wave.

But it seems fans have caught on to the fact that this remake is going to be very different to the cult classic.

“Only one thing to say about new #PointBreak: How dare you.” LA-based journalist, Emily Savage, tweeted.

“I don’t really see the need for them to call it Point Break. Like it could just be Triple X part 3 Fast and 10 Furious,” musician Richie Cunning replied.

Other fans just seemed annoyed the movie makers had meddled with a classic.

“That new Point Break remake is genuinely upsetting,” Drew Magary tweeted.

“Something tells me alcohol played a role in the decision to remake Point Break,” @mrericsir wrote.
