Tye Sheridan, who almost stole the show from Matthew McConaughey in Mud, has landed the role of Cyclops (Scott Summers). The mutant, who shoots powerful optic beams, was previously played by James Marsden.
Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones, will play Jean Grey. This mutant character has telepathic powers and was previously played by Famke Janssen.
Alexandra Shipp, who played Aaliyah in a TV movie about the singer, will play Storm (Ororo Munroe). Storm, previously played by Halle Berry, can control the weather with her mind.
Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Channing Tatum as Gambit are expected to star in the movie alongside the already confirmed names such as Jennifer Lawrence (Raven/Mystique), Michael Fassbender (Erik Lensherr/Magneto) and James McAvoy (Charles Xavier).
Singer is yet to reveal what the latest instalment in the X-Men franchise will be about.
