New all-female Ghostbusters casts Melissa McCarthy

MELISSA McCarthy is one of the big names to have signed on for the all-female reboot of Ghostbusters.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is now in final talks with Kristen Wiig, as well as Saturday Night Live regulars Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

While last minute negotiations are still taking place, Director Paul Feig tweeted the news via a pic of the foursome.

McCarthy and Wiig teamed up with Feig for 2011 comedy Bridesmaids. Jones, who joined SNL early last year, currently appears in Chris Rock’s comedy Top Five. McKinnon has been on SNL since 2012 and was nominated for an Emmy for her role last year.

The quartet will take on the iconic roles played by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson in the 1984 original.

Katie Dippold, who collaborated with Feig and McCarthy on The Heat, is writing the script and production is rumoured to kick off this year in New York.
