Netflix announces an unexpected ‘Bright’ sequel — and Twitter has theories
IT’S been called one of the worst movies of 2017, but Netflix clearly doesn’t care and has announced a sequel is on the way for this Will Smith and Joel Edgerton film.
NETFLIX has announced that a sequel to Bright is in the works.
Who cares that it was repeatedly called the one of the worst movies of 2017? Audiences responded well to it and showed up to watch it.
Critics be damned, more Bright is on the way and stars Will Smith and Joel Edgerton are expected to return. Director David Ayer will also return, pulling double duty as the writer and director.
The film mixes the grim and gritty cop movie genre with elements from fantasy films, pairing Smith’s LAPD officer with a new orc recruit played under heavy make-up by Edgerton. The film used humanity’s prejudice against orcs to tackle issues of race, but whether or not they succeeded is TBD (Chance the Rapper, not a fan).
Twitter, expectedly, had feelings about the announcement of a Bright sequel — including some theorising that they’re (not literally) trolling audiences.

Others had theories about possible sequel titles, and some are pretty good:
Just In: The god awful #Bright is getting a sequel! Title suggestions:

Still there were some that are hopefully about a follow-up, specifically because controversial screenwriter Max Landis is not coming back for the follow-up.
brace for unpopular opinion: I think this has potential...as long as Landis has nothing to do with it https://t.co/zLyUH1TH38
