Meet Jamie Dornan’s sexy ‘50 Shades’ stunt double
SOMETIMES a movie requires an actor to perform tasks he just can’t do. Not surprisingly, the BDSM masterpiece “Fifty Shades of Grey” is one such film.
SOMETIMES a movie requires an actor to perform tasks he just can’t do. Not surprisingly, the BDSM masterpiece “Fifty Shades of Grey” is one such film.
That’s why the filmmakers had to call in a double for their Christian Grey, 32-year-old British actor Jamie Dornan — “Fifty Shades” just required too much of the actor’s body.
Wait, get your mind out of the gutter. We’re talking about stunt driving.
Meet Alex Terzieff, the 40-year-old stuntman who fills Dornan’s shoes in the spicy new flick, in theatres Feb. 13.
At 6 feet 3 and 200 pounds, Terzieff was a bit larger than Dornan’s slender 6-foot frame, but thanks to 20 days on the Master Cleanse, he slimmed down just before landing the gig. He and Dornan are also both of Irish descent, and the wig they put on Terzieff helped too.
“Since he’s an actor, I’m sure he’s much better-looking and in better shape than I am,” Terzieff modestly tells The Post.
Before signing on, Terzieff had never cozied up on his couch to sip chardonnay and read the lurid book.
“I must have been the only person who had no clue what it was,” he says. “I told my wife that I got called to do stunts on ‘Fifty Shades of Grey,’ and she and my mother, they just laughed at me and said, ‘We cannot believe that you do not know what that is ... and furthermore, what kind of stunts are you doing!?’ ”
They needn’t have worried. Terzieff’s clothes stayed fully intact on the job, and he had no concerns about being asked to make some dungeon lovin.’
“For me as a stuntman, there wouldn’t be any sex-scene-type stuff unless somebody was getting caught by their spouse and going out a second-story window or something,” he says.
An industry veteran, Terzieff runs Seattle Stunt Company and has worked as a stunt performer in movies such as “The Dark Knight Rises” and as a stunt co-ordinator for the likes of “Wild” and “Dallas Buyers Club.” He’s currently coordinating stunts for “Sharknado 3.”
On “Fifty Shades,” while Dornan and the rest of the film’s heavyweights were shooting principal photography in Canada, Terzieff was in Seattle shooting high-speed car scenes with the second unit. As Dornan played with rope across the border, Terzieff drove an Audi R8 Spyder at up to 110 miles per hour.
Given the separation, Terzieff never got to meet the man he was doubling.
“It was kind of interesting. I didn’t know of Jamie Dornan before, but when they told me, I looked him up — I have his colouring,” he says, adding quickly, “He’d probably be insulted if he heard me say that.”
