Margot Robbie’s villainous new role

THE former Neighbours star has landed yet another big role in Hollywood, this time playing an infamous sporting villain.

MARGOT Robbie is trading in her baseball bat for a baton.

The Suicide Squad star will play Tonya Harding in the biopic I, Tonya, Deadline reports.

Harding was a champion figure skater who is best known for her role in the 1994 scandal, when her main competition at the Olympics, Nancy Kerrigan, was attacked by a man hired by Harding’s husband, Jeff Gillooly, to break her leg at the U.S. national championships.

Kerrigan wound up only being bruised by the attack and won the silver medal at the Olympics, while Harding finished eighth.

Harding was then stripped of her 1994 nationals title and banned for life by the United States Figure Skating Association after she admitted to obstructing the investigation, but claimed she only learned of the attack afterwards.

I, Tonya is written by Steven Rogers and produced by Bryan Unkeless and Robbie.

In addition to her anticipated role of Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, Robbie can be seen in the Tina Fey movie Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and The Legend of Tarzan, opposite Alexander Skarsgard.

Her first major breakout role was in The Wolf of Wall Street, though there are some who might remember her from the failed TV series Pan Am.
