Margot Robbie to play Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad

AUSSIE actress Margot Robbie is reportedly locked in to take on a petrifying new film role, playing a super villain alongside Jared Leto.

MARGOT Robbie will play Harley Quinn in upcoming film Suicide Squad.

The 24-year-old Aussie actress will play the role of The Joker’s henchwoman in the villain film, which is due to hit cinemas in 2016, Collider reports.

David Ayer, who is directing Suicide Squad, described it as “the Dirty Dozen with supervillains.”

Robbie’s character was introduced in Batman: The Animated Series as the Joker’s accomplice and is now a popular antihero, but this will be the first time Harley Quinn has ever been portrayed on the silver screen.

Jared Leto is reportedly being courted to play The Joker and Tom Hardy, Will Smith, Jesse Eisenberg are reportedly close to signing on to the film.
