MARGOT Robbie got a little too physical when filming a sex scene with Alexander Skarsgård.

The 25-year-old Aussie roughed up the hunky Swedish actor when they were filming The Legend of Tarzan which is due out in June.

Robbie plays Jane in the movie and according to director David Yates, she really left a mark on 39-year-old Skarsgård who plays Tarzan.

“They’re doing this love scene together, and I said (to Robbie), ‘Just slap Alex while you’re making love, just kind of give him a punch’,” Yates said to EW.

“It was sort of an earthy, sensual moment of her enjoying sex with Alex, and the only bruise he picked up during the entire shoot was probably that punch from Margot. Which says a lot about her feistiness.”

Margot Robbie is one of the hottest actors in Hollywood right now.

Audiences can expect to see a much tougher Jane than in previous Tarzan movies, according to Skarsgård.

“It was very important that we didn’t want it to feel archaic or dated, where it’s like, tough guy has to save the poor girl,” Skarsgård said.

“You have to feel that she’s strong and independent, and when you cast Margot, you’ll definitely get that.”

The Legend of Tarzan is due out in Australia on June 30
