Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman combine forces in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1

WITH newly blonded hair and dressed in a severe grey suit, Julianne Moore is a strikingly different figure in the first images released from the new Hunger Games sequel.

Moore plays President Coin in the dystopian thriller, to be released in Australia on November 20.

Lionsgate’s substantial teaser campaign includes a video interview with Moore as well as first-look images, behind-the-scenes stills, a poster and an interactive sneak peek at a page from the film’s script.

Director Francis Lawrence has rejected reports that Seymour Hoffman, who died of a heroin overdose while still filming, would be digitally recreated through CGI in order to complete his scenes.

“We finished the majority of his work. He might have had eight to 10 days left on our schedule. In most of those scenes, Phil didn’t have any dialogue,’’ said Lawrence.

“We are going to put him into those scenes but we’re only using real footage.”

Producer Nina Jacobson said other characters Haymitch or Effie might be given a line or two of Plutarch’s, so long as that didn’t undermine the intent of the scene.
