In St Vincent, Bill Murray plays the best-worst babysitter ever
THE oddball actor plays a bad babysitter in the hilarious trailer for his new film, also starring Melissa McCarthy and Chris O’Dowd.
WANT Bill Murray as your babysitter?
The oddball actor’s latest film, St. Vincent, looks like a winner: Murray plays the titular character, a drunken, gambling war veteran retiree who gets recruited by his new neighbour Maggie (Melissa McCarthy) to look after her 12-year-old son, Oliver, while she works.
As shown in the hilarious trailer, after a bumpy start the pair get along famously, with Murray’s St. Vincent schooling his young charge on the joys of racetracks, seedy bars and strip clubs.
Vincent even has some motivational words for his young new friend, who is getting picked on at school for his size:
Vincent: You need to defend yourself, or you’ll get mowed down.
Oliver: I’m small, if you haven’t noticed.
Vincent: So was Hitler.
Oliver: That’s a HORRIBLE comparison.
The film is rounded out by an all-star cast, with supporting roles from Naomi Watts as a Russian stripper and Chris O’Dowd as a Catholic schoolteacher. Expect it in Aussie cinemas later this year.
