I Know What You Did Last Summer remake in the works

IT’S been 17 summers since horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer scared the living daylights out of us all.

And now, a reboot of the terrifying 1997 flick, which grossed over $125 million worldwide, is in the works.

Deadline reports the slasher film is a “high priority” for Sony Pictures, who is aiming to have it out in 2016.

The original starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr and spawned two sequels — I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer.

No word yet on whether any of the four stars are considering signing on for the remake.

Sony has commissioned Oculus writer/director Mike Flanagan and co-writer Jeff Howard for the gig. Producing is Neal Moritz (Fast and Furious franchise) who also produced the original.

Gellar and Prinze Jr actually met while filming the first film and started dating in 2000. They are now married with two kids.
