THE first trailer for Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The BFG has landed.
Based on Dahl’s beloved 1982 novel, the first look at Disney’s remake left plenty to the imagination.
“Never get out of bed, never go to the window, never look behind the curtain,” orphan Sophie (played by 11-year-old Ruby Barnhill) says as a giant hand snatches her from her bed, “and that is where our story begins”.
Mark Rylance brings the Big Friendly Giant to life, marking the English actor’s second straight collaboration with Spielberg — the pair worked together on this year’s thriller Bridge of Spies.
Bill Hader, Rebecca Hall, and Jemaine Clement round out the cast, with the screenplay by the late Melissa Mathison, who Spielberg worked with on ET: the Extra-Terrestrial.
The BFG is scheduled to hit cinemas on July 1, 2016.
