HE’S famous for being a Hollywood hard man, but Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has revealed that he’s not as tough on the inside as he is on the outside.

HE’S famous for being a Hollywood hard man, but Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has revealed that he’s not as tough on the inside as he is on the outside.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the movie star has revealed among other things that he’s suffered from depression three times throughout his tumultuous life.

Here are the most surprising details from the 42 year olds tell-all interview:

- He appeared in five movies in 2013 which together grossed $1.3 billion

- His ex-wife, Dany Garcia (they divorced in 2008) is still his long-time manager

So buff.

- He and his mum were kicked out of their home when he was 14 years old because they couldn’t afford the rent. “We come home, and there’s a padlock on the door and an eviction notice. My mum starts bawling. She just started crying and breaking down. ‘Where are we going to live? What are we going to do?’”

- He admits he’s taken steroids before. “I tried them when I was 18, me and my football buddies. Nothing happened,” Johnson said.

- He first suffered depression when he was injured in college, meaning he couldn’t play football for a while. “I didn’t know why I didn’t want to do anything. I had never experienced anything like that.”

- In 1995 he was signed by Canadian Football League team, the Calgary Stampeders. He was earning just $250 a week.

- He struggled with form and was booted from the team, which led to another bout of depression. “I looked in my pocket, and I had seven bucks. Wow. Seven bucks to my name,” he said.

- He also got depression when he divorced from his wife in 2008. “Failing at marriage and as a husband was a heavy thing, and divorce had that special way of knocking me on my ass,” Johnson said.

- One of his new movies, Hercules, will be released in Australia on July 31. According to director Brett Ratner, Johnson had to train like crazy for the role. “He had to get up at 2 or 3 in the morning, work out, eat 10 times a day. He had to drink tremendous fluids to keep hydrated,” Rattner said.

- He’s currently making a movie called San Andreas which is partly being filmed on the Gold Coast. Kylie Minogue is also in the film. It’s rumoured Johnson is getting paid $12 million for the role.

- He was driving in the car with his girlfriend Lauren when he learnt of Paul Walker’s death. “I pulled over and looked at my messages and had a moment where I just caught my breath … Then once we got home, we started bawling,” Johnson said.

- He usually eats six meals a day.
