Dune Part Two has just released its first trailer and it promises more epic sci-fi goodness – and a very alarming-looking Austin Butler.

OK, remember when you watched Dune and was confused by why Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic didn’t really have an ending?

And someone had to tell you that the movie only covered half the story of Frank Herbert’s complex book? Then they said, “Hope the movie does well at the box office because they haven’t actually greenlit the sequel yet!”

Also, if you haven’t seen Dune, please go see it. It’s phenomenal.

Well, not only did a part two get the go-ahead – much to Villeneuve’s great relief – and wrapped filming, but the release is now close enough the first full-length trailer dropped overnight.

The trailer teases what to expect from the film, due out in November, including, at the very least, more Zendaya.

Dune Part Two takes us back to the desert planet of Arrakis, where Paul Atreides is now with the Fremen as predicted by a prophecy. The House of Atreides is thought to be wiped out after the machinations by rival family the Harkonens.

But we all know Paul and his mother Lady Jessica survived the attack. Paul is on the path to fulfilling his destiny and that involves being able to ride one of Arrakis’ formidable sandworms, and pondering the purpose of revenge.

The ruthless Harkonens are still on the move, and we get a glimpse of Baron’s nephew and successor, Feyd-Rautha, portrayed by an alarming-looking Austin Butler.

Butler is one of the newcomers to the Dune universe, alongside Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan and Christopher Walken as the Emperor.

As well as Zendaya, most of its A-list cast is returning, including Timothee Chalamet, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard and Javier Bardem.

The first movie grossed $US402 million worldwide and won six Oscars out of 10 nominations including in cinematographer for Australian Greig Fraser.

Dune Part Two is in cinemas on November 2.
