Circle of life: Another Lion King movie coming
DISNEY are planning to release another Lion King movie next year which focuses on Simba and Nala’s second born cub.
THE circle of life continues with another Lion King movie in the works.
The film, which will be released as a telemovie in 2015, will be called The Lion Guard and will later be turned into a TV series on Disney channels in 2016.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Lion Guard will centre on Simba and Nala’s second born cub, Kion, who is tasked with preserving the Pride lands.
“Instead of assembling a team of young lions to serve with him, Kion challenges tradition by calling upon friends he believes are the best choices: Bunga, a fearless honey badger; Fuli, a confident cheetah; Beshte, a happy-go-lucky hippo; and Ono, an intellectual egret,” reports THR.
It’s rumoured that there’ll be special appearances from much loved characters Mufasa, Timon and Pumbaa in the new movie.
The original Lion King was released in 1994 and won two Academy Awards and grossed more than $985 million worldwide.
