Chris Hemsworth’s stunt double has to eat 35 times a day to look like Thor
CHRIS Hemsworth’s hunky stunt double has revealed just what he has to put his body through in order to get “anywhere near” the Aussie actor’s size.
THINK you’ve got what it takes to be able to beef up, Thor style?
Think again. Chris Hemsworth’s hunky stunt double has revealed just what he has to put his body through in order to get “anywhere near” the Aussie actor’s size.
Bobby Holland Hanton, a former British gymnast who has doubled for a league of Hollywood heavyweights, has been working with Hemsworth since he filmed Snow White and the Huntsman. The pair have stuck together ever since and are currently working on the third Thor film, Thor: Ragnarok.
Turns out, you’ve got to eat a hell of a lot to keep up with Thor. A whopping 35 meals a day, to be exact.
Hanton told Muscle and Fitness that he follows a strict diet of “high protein, good fats, good carbs,” with meals like “grilled chicken or turkey with spinach and natural nuts, boiled eggs, and a green tea.” He’s also banned from eating sugar, salt, and any sauces.
“I also have to train twice a day,” he told Buzzfeed. “Chris is naturally a monster and all he has to do is look at weights and he grows.”
“Before we started shooting, maybe two months before, I started training twice a day, about an hour each session, maybe five or six days a week,” he told the publication.
“And then ... two weeks before we started [shooting], I upped my training to an hour and-a-half session twice a day, six days a week to try and gain that size and I had to focus a lot on arms. His arms are huge and they were on show a lot with costume.”
Hanton also had to wear “two-inch lifts” while shooting because of Hemsworth’s height (he’s 6’1). Imagine doing this incredible stunt below wearing heels.
Thor’s not the only superhero the 31-year-old action man has portrayed on the big screen. He’s also doubled for Christian Bale, Chris Evans and Channing Tatum, but says “the training for Thor was the most intense training I’ve ever had to endure doing a movie.”
We believe it.
