Australian actor Isla Fisher spotted on set of huge sequel film in London
Isla Fisher has appeared on set of one of the most buzzed about movie sequels, after the Aussie recently announced her split from Sacha Baron Cohen.
Newly single Isla Fisher will play a divorced mum in the upcoming Bridget Jones film.
The Australian actor, who recently announced her split from Sacha Baron Cohen after 13 years of marriage, has been spotted on the set of the franchise’s fourth movie, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, in London this week.
Insiders toldThe Sun that Fisher, 48, will star as a friend to Bridget, who has been played by Oscar winning actor Renée Zellweger for the last three movies.
In photos taken by paparazzi, Fisher can be seen filming scenes outside a home in London, wearing a flowy pink dress with her signature red hair styled in unruly fashion.
“Isla’s real life is inspiring her new role in the Bridget Jones film,” a source said.
“She plays a single mother who befriended Bridget at the school gates.
“Isla loves Bridget Jones and is thrilled that she landed the part. Her own experience will help her in the role and it’s great she’s landed such a big part after a really tough time.”
US star Zellweger, 55, has reprised her role as loveable Bridget for the fourth film in the series, which has been adapted from Helen Fielding’s books.
British actor Hugh Grant is also returning as Daniel Cleaver, and Bridget will be seen locked in a love triangle with him and two other suitors.
The White Lotus actor Leo Woodall, 27, is playing Bridget’s younger love interest, who will be known on screen as ‘Rockstar’.
She will also be wooed by a PE teacher at her kids’ school, Mr Walker, who is played by award-winning actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, 46.
Fisher and Baron Cohen announced they were divorcing last month in a joint statement, which claimed they had split last year.
The pair, who have three children, got engaged in 2004 after being together for three years.
The Sun later revealed that Fisher told friends she was consulting a fearsome celebrity divorce lawyer in 2022.
It is understood the star quietly contacted Fiona Shackleton — Sir Paul McCartney’s legal expert in his $46 million split from Heather Mills.
Meanwhile, the original Bridget Jones film was released back in 2001. The most recent one, Bridget Jones’s Baby, hit cinemas in 2016, and ended with Bridget marrying and having her first child with Mark Darcy (Colin Firth).
Unfortunately, it appears Firth’s character won’t be in the next movie.
Speaking to People in April, Grant hinted Firth wasn’t involved in filming.

“It’s partly based on Helen Fielding’s experiences of bringing up two children by herself after her husband died,” Grant said.
“And so Bridget is bringing up two kids and wondering whether she should ever go back to dating. It’s a very good script.”
