Aussie star Jai Courtney to star opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in new Terminator film
HE’LL be back. Rising Australian star Jai Courtney takes the fast track to Hollywood success by signing on for the latest Terminator film with Arnie.
TOM Cruise, Bruce Willis and now Arnold Schwarzenegger — it seems rising Australian start Jai Courtney will only work with Hollywood’s action A-list.
With roles in Hunger Games’ successor Divergent, Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken and Russell Crowe’s The Water Diviner under his belt, the 33-year-old has just signed on to play Kyle Reese in a Terminator reboot called Terminator: Genesis.
Played by Michael Biehn in the 1984 original, Courtney’s character is a resistance fighter from the future sent back to the present to save Sarah Connor, the woman who will give birth to mankind’s saviour.
Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke will play the Linda Hamilton role in the new film and Zero Dark Thirty’s Jason Clarke has been cast as her son John Connor.
It seems that Schwarzenegger, too, will be back.
“I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star as the Terminator,’’ he told website thearnoldfans.com.
The film, scheduled for a July, 2015 release, will be directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World).
