An insider blog has dropped a bombshell about the upcoming Star Wars film

DO NOT read this article if you don’t want to know a massive spoiler for the upcoming Star Wars movie. It could ruin your day.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (First Official Teaser Trailer 2015)

STAR Wars fans everywhere are in a state of disbelief as a credible rumour is circulating that one of the beloved characters will be killed off in the latest instalment, The Force Awakens.

*DO NOT READ PAST HERE IF YOU DON’T WANT SPOILERS*

Seriously, stop now if you don’t want to know.

The unsubstantiated rumour comes from a well regarded blog, Makingstarwars.net which claims that Han Solo will meet his maker in the JJ Abrams directed film.

The blog is run by 14 die hard Star Wars fans in California with links to the film industry.

The author of the article that set the internet ablaze is the editor-in-chief of the site, Jason Ward who claimed that the information comes from a “most trusted source and friend.”

“This isn’t rocky. This is verified as having been shot at Pinewood ... This is the first spoiler I’ve had where I’ve known it was so apparently accurate I was floored by it,” he wrote.

This could be the last Star Wars movie we see this guy in.

After a couple earnest paragraphs expressing the author’s conviction in the information, the site then goes on to describe in bullet points the events that bring about the demise of the iconic character.

Basically it goes like this:

• Han Solo is hiding on the ramparts of The Evil Castle before he decides to reveal himself to Kylo Ren.

• Finn, Rey, Chewbacca and BB-8 stop in their tracks and look on as Han Solo confronts Kylo Ren.

• This turns out to be an inadvisable idea (with some fans speculating he is buying the others time) and Han Solo is killed.

• A following explosion and the arrival of storm troopers causes everyone to flee.

The site ends the account by stating that “Han Solo is never in a scene after this. Those are the facts.”

As speculation grows as to the accuracy of the information, if true, it could signal a shift in the story away from Luke, Leia and Han, to the franchise’s younger characters.

As Cinemablend.com alludes to, Harrison Ford — who plays Han Solo — is no spring chicken and it could conceivably be difficult to bring the 71-year-old back for episodes eight and nine.

Star Wars fans are likely to be incensed by the death of one of their favourite characters if it is not done in a heroic or fitting manner. But the actor himself told the ABC in 2010 that he thought the character should’ve been killed off in the last one.

“George [Lucas] didn’t think there was any future in dead Han toys,” he joked.

The evidence is compelling, and the site responsible for the bombshell has a reputation for releasing information that is eventually vindicated.

But at this point, all fans can do is turn up to cinemas on December 18, 2015.

Possibly to say goodbye.
