Showtime for Oscar hosts

FEEL sorry for the nominees who'll miss out on an Oscar on Sunday night? Don't. They'll be waking up the next day with $45,000 worth of loot.

Those who don't get their magic Oscar moment will walk away with a "2013 Everyone Wins at the Oscars Nominee Gift Bag".

And included in the luxurious bag is a $12,000 trip to Australia, meaning the cream of this year's Academy Awards crop could be heading our way in the very near future.

Follow our Oscars coverage LIVE on PerthNow from 8am AWST on Monday.

Recipients can choose between two luxury Aussie destinations. Lizard Island – listed as one of the top 10 resorts in the world and positioned atop the Great Barrier Reef - or El Questro Homestead, an ultra private resort in WA's Kimberley region.

But not all of the loot is luxury goods and exclusive holidays. The nominees will also receive condoms, maple syrup, electronic cigarettes, "The Ultimate Fuzz Remover," and Windex of all things in their goody bag.

Billed as "a fast and convenient solution to clean and sanitize the most frequently used surfaces in the home without missing a beat" - nominees will have a $3.99 bottle of the cleaning product amongst their $12,000 holiday vouchers and $5,000 face lifts.

Also included is a $9.99 Green Garmento laundry bag, a $19.99 lint roller for removing "annoying fuzz balls", $20 worth of Naked condoms, Slimware portion-control dinnerware worth $59, Maple Syrup worth $120 and an $80 bracelet that doubles has a hair tie.

The unusual items are mixed in with:

  • $4,100 one week all-inclusive fitness and weight loss retreat.
  • $600 worth of acupuncture, aromatherapy and nutrition sessions
  • $850 package of 10 personal training sessions
  • $795 under counter water filtration system
  • $5,000 "Vampire Facelift"
  • $1,800 Heathrow Airport private VIP service

Founder/CEO of Distinctive Assets, Lash Fary, whose company created the gift bags says they are a "welcome distraction" the morning after the Academy Awards.

“We always look forward to introducing celebrities to an array of companies with fabulous gifts to shar," Fary told gossip site Celebzter. "But it’s particularly fun to be able to do so when you know it will truly brighten someone’s day. Even Hollywood’s most acclaimed stars are disappointed over this particular loss, and when our consolation gift shows up the next day we like to think it is welcome distraction."

Distinctive Assets has compiled the gift bags for the past 11 years.

Last year’s bag was worth $62,023.26, and this year’s is down nearly $20,000 from that.

So if Hugh Jackman is outrivalled by Daniel Day-Lewis on Sunday night, he can take solace in the fact that he's saved himself a trip to the shops for a new bottle of Windex.
