‘Petty’: Rumoured feud between It Ends With Us co-stars hits boiling point
Blake Lively and the cast of It Ends With Us have given the biggest sign yet they’re locked in a feud with director and co-star Justin Baldoni.
Hollywood feuds have forever been an obsession for us regular folk, and the rumoured latest one certainly ticks all the right boxes. But is it real?
Fans have become convinced that there’s a feud going on between Blake Lively and the rest of the It Ends With Us cast, and Blake’s co-star and director, Justin Baldoni.
The evidence has been building up for the last few weeks, and now the cast has reportedly unfollowed him on Instagram in the most telling sign yet.
It comes after the cast attended the show’s glitzy premiere at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater on Tuesday, August 6 in New York City. Blake was accompanied by her husband Ryan Reynolds and his Deadpool & Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman.
Fans on TikTok noticed that while Blake was being photographed with Brandon Sklenar, Colleen and others, Justin was photographed alone, with his wife, Emily Baldoni, and his friends. This quickly caused people to believe that something happened behind the scenes.
It cemented the feud rumours for many, who have been convinced ever seen reports emerged that Lively and her husband, Reynolds, had pushed to have more creative control on the movie as producers, supposedly clashing with Baldoni in the process.
During the premiere, Jenny Slate, who plays Lively's friend in the movie, added fuel to the fire when she completely changed the subject when asked about what it was like to work with Baldoni.
Fans have taken to social media to call out the bizarre behaviour and question what is really going down behind the scenes.
“Is no one else wondering why one of the stars isn’t doing press with the others?” said one fan.
“Literally, what is going on with the cast … why is Justin doing all his promo by himself?” commented another.
“Just coming to say I have no idea what happened, but I fully support Justin,” wrote a third. “The cast behaviour seems so petty and does not make them look good.”
It’s not the first time Lively has been allegedly involved in a feud.
Millenials raised on watching Gossip Girl will no doubt remember the infamous rift between Lively and Leighton Meester, which has since become a pop culture legend.
At the time, it was alleged in the tabloids that Lively was “jealous of the wardrobe budget for Meester’s character” and that Meester thought her co-star was an “egomaniac.”
The show’s executive producer, Joshua Safran, even broke his silence on the feud during an interview with Vanity Fair.
“They were friendly, but they were not friends like Serena and Blair, he said, insisting the stars were just like oil and water. “Yet the second they’d be on set together, it’s as if they were.”
“Blake is very much in the moment,” he said. “Blake knows what’s happening,” Safran continued, adding, “You talk to Blake on a very contemporary level, and she would be like, ‘I’m doing this thing tonight. Have you been to this restaurant?’” On the other hand, Safran explained that Meester “was very removed and very quiet, and, after her scenes were done, she would wander the stage.”
