Internet abuzz over third trailer for Avengers: Age of Ultron

THE latest trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron has all of the internet talking with the surprise appearance of a much-loved character.

EXCUSE me for a moment while I fanboy over here in the corner.

The internet is abuzz over the latest trailer for Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, which is set to premiere in Australia on April 23 - seven days before America.

There is no doubt it will be hard to top the first film, which is currently the third highest-grossing film of all time.

Natasha Romanoff, Steve Rogers, Thor, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner listening to one of Nick Fury’s inspirational speeches.

But judging from this trailer, returning writer/director Joss Whedon has certainly stepped up to the plate.

It will feature the recognisable cast of characters we have all come to love, including Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jnr), Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans), Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Bruce Banner/The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth).

The sequel will also introduce a number of additions including twins Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor Johnson), as well as the creepy title character Ultron, who is voiced by James Spader.

But the most talked about new character - which makes his debut in the new trailer - is the Vision, played by Paul Bettany.

Anybody who has watched the Iron Man films or the first Avengers will recognise Bettany as the voice of J.A.R.V.I.S - Tony Stark’s computer assistant.

Paul Bettany appears as the Vision at the end of the trailer.

Although the Vision had already appeared in concept art and promotional art for the film, he had been left out of the previous two trailers and was left as a surprise for the closing moments of the new trailer.

Some fans on the internet have speculated that the Vision is sporting an infinity stone, which could mean big things for the already announced sequels Avengers: Infinity War part one and part two.

The Avengers launch into action.

The trailer heavily hints at Age of Ultron’s plot. Tony Stark creates Ultron - a robot protector with artificial intelligence, which goes awry.

“I tried to create a suit of armour around the world but I created something terrible,” Tony says in the trailer.

“Artificial intelligence,” Bruce Banner realises.

“It’s called the Ultron program, I’m sick of watching people pay for our mistakes,” Tony adds.

At the start of the trailer, Ultron muses that he was designed to save the world.

“People who have looked to the skies and seen hope,” he says.

“I’ll take that from them first.”

Later in the trailer, Ultron reveals his motive: “there’s only one path to peace - their extinction.”
