‘Honest trailer’ shows exactly why Suicide Squad sucked
IT MAY be among the top-grossing films of 2016, but now the dust has settled, let’s all admit something: Suicide Squad sucked.

We’re hardly putting forth a controversial opinion here — the film “enjoys” an approval rating of just 26 per cent among fans and critics on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes — but thankfully, the team at Screen Junkies have put together an “Honest Trailer” to hilariously track just where it all went wrong for the much-hyped film.
In a similar vein to recent “honest trailers” for disappointing reboots of Ghostbusters and Independence Day, their Suicide Squad video pokes fun at a film that’s at pains to point out how edgy and bad its antiheroes are at every turn.
Apologies to homegrown stars Jai Courtney and Margot Robbie — apparently your characters amount to “some drunk guy with a boomerang” and a “90-pound girl with a bat”.
Those two got off relatively lightly, though: special snark is reserved for Cara Delevingne — who “makes the jump from modelling to acting like the wavy inflatable arm things outside car dealerships” — and the controversial Joker Jared Leto, who Screen Junkies dub “Heath Lesser”.
“Experience Jared Leto’s intense character acting that blurred the line between actor, character — and total douchebag,” says the narrator, pointing out that Leto “does in just 10 minutes of screentime what no other actor has been able to do: Make the Joker totally suck.”
Oh, and bonus points to Screen Junkies for fiiiiinnally pointing out something that’s been bugging us about sci-fi and comic book movies for years now — why does every bad guy’s plan to destroy the world nowadays involve the use of a Giant Electric Magnetic Sky Beam Force Field Thingo?
