Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie team up for Bombshell teaser trailer

She’s known for on-screen transformations — but this A-list star’s latest makeover is so extreme some viewers are asking if it’s even her.

Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie team up for a wordless yet utterly gripping new teaser trailer for the upcoming film Bombshell — and all eyes are on Theron, who’s made yet another startling on-screen transformation.

Theron and Kidman play real-life women in this look inside the Fox News empire at the time former chairman and CEO Roger Ailes was hit with several sexual harassment complaints.

Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie star in Bombshell.

Theron plays former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly, while Kidman is veteran journalist Gretchen Carlson, who sued Ailes for harassment in 2016 in a suit that was later settled for $US20 million.

Robbie plays a fictional Fox News associate producer in the film.

The 90-second teaser trailer shows the three women interacting wordlessly in an elevator — which has given social media ample opportunity to focus on just how much Theron looks like Kelly and how little like herself:

It’s understood the star used prosthetics to better resemble Kelly. Of course, this isn’t the first time Theron’s transformed herself on-screen — most famously, the actress “de-glammed” to play serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the 2004 film Monster, picking up a Best Actress Academy Award for her efforts:

Bombshell comes after the release of the acclaimed miniseries The Loudest Voice, starring Russell Crowe (again in heavy prosthetics) as Ailes and streaming locally on Stan. That series featured Kidman’s real-life friend and fellow Aussie Naomi Watts playing Carlson.

Bombshell will be released in Australian cinemas in January 2020.
