Macaulay Culkin recreates favourite scenes from ‘Home Alone,’ internet loses it
Macaulay Culkin has the internet howling like Catherine O’Hara. The “Home Alone” star reprised his role as the child trickster Kevin McCallister in a new ad.
“Kevin!”
Macaulay Culkin has the internet howling like Catherine O’Hara. The Home Alone star reprised his role as Kevin McCallister from the classic Christmas movie in a new ad for Google Home.
The one-minute remake gives the 1990 classic a 2018 update.
Culkin, now 38, recreates classic scenes from the holiday movie, in the same costumes and house. Stuck home alone, Kevin plays around his house with the help of his voice assistant Google.
Activities include buying aftershave (he actually needs it now), cleaning the sheets after jumping on his parents’ bed and talking to the pizza delivery boy at the front door without getting up.
Of course, his plot to keep the “Wet Bandits” — Marv and Harry — out of the house gets a hi-tech upgrade, with Google Assistant pulling the strings while grown-up Kevin happily eats his mac ’n’ cheese.
Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern even make an appearance, though their footage comes straight from the original film.
Of course, fans of the movie are overjoyed with the nostalgic clip.
“This ad is taking me back to my good old days,” one Twitter user wrote.
“You’re never really home alone because Google is spying on everything you do,” wrote another.
Culkin even tweeted to one fan that they did shoot a scene where Kevin asks Google if his toothbrush was approved by the American Dental Association, but it didn’t make the final cut.
Take a look for yourself, you filthy animals.
