‘Honest Trailer’ hilariously details everything that went wrong with Ghostbusters remake

NOW the dust has settled, we can be honest: the female Ghostbusters remake just wasn’t that great. An “honest trailer” hilariously skewers the film’s failings.

IT BECAME one of the most controversial films of the year before anyone had even seen it, but now the dust has settled: Was the all-female Ghostbusters reboot actually any good?

Let’s put it this way: While it didn’t deserve the rabid hate from butthurt film fans claiming it had “ruined their childhood”, it probably won’t be appearing on many ‘Best films of 2016’ roundups at the end of the year.

Now, an “honest trailer” for the film has appeared on YouTube, perfectly skewering exactly what went wrong — from the over-reaction from fans of the original film, to the many problems with the remake itself.

“Get ready for the film that everyone in their blog rushed to judge before they’d even seen it, and proved to all the haters that ... it’s bad. It’s not as bad as they said it was going to be, but it’s still pretty bad,” the honest trailer teases.

Problems identified in the trailer include:

— Everyone in the cast plays the comic relief ... at the same time.

— The climactic ghostbusting battle is basically a rip-off of the third act of Pixels.

— It’s a film that’s “desperate to prove it’s not like the original ... but also desperate to remind you of the original at every opportunity.”

- Many of the cast members from the original film appear — but playing new characters, stuck in humiliating blink-and-you’ll-miss-em cameos.

In the end, the 2016 Ghostbusters “proves once and for all that girls can make middle-of-the-road studio-mandated franchise bait just as well as the boys,” so that’s a win ... we guess?

If you’re yet to see the film, we’d advise you save yourself 90 minutes and just watch the much funnier Honest Trailer:
