SPOILER alert: If you haven't seen Gravity yet, well, you're a fool, but it's probably best not to read on.

The sci-fi thriller starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney is currently enjoying astronomical success around the world, topping the box office in both the US and Australia.

When a film does this well, there's often talk of a sequel. So what could the plot in Gravity 2 be?

The last thing we saw was Ryan Stone (played by Sandra Bullock) climbing to her feet on a beach after surviving re-entry into the earth's atmopshere.

But what happens next?

1. Ryan Stone realises she is stranded on a deserted island. Unfortunately NASA are unable to track her down and Stone is forced to spend her days fishing and sourcing clean water in an attempt to survive. For some reason there's a ball on the island, which she names 'Matt' (named after George Clooney's character Matt Kowalski) and forges a strong relationship with the inflatable object.

2. Stone decides to sue NASA for providing her with an unsafe workplace. She demands compensation for her harrowing experience in space and hires an experienced female lawyer to represent her in court. Despite legal experts predicting she has no chance of winning, she somehow manages to score a surprising victory and NASA is forced to pay her $610 million in damages, which ultimately leads to the closure of the government agency.

3. Stone returns to her hometown only to discover that she is pregnant. She undergoes a series of medical tests in an attempt to figure out how this is possible given she hasn't been intimate with a man in years. Doctors realise that the fetus is developing at a quicker than normal rate and perform an emergency caesarean during which they make an alarming discovery.

4. Stone becomes a worldwide celebrity and graces every magazine cover and appears on countless television shows. On a British talk show, she meets fellow astronaut Jim Lovell (played by Tom Hanks) who survived the near space disaster that was Apollo 13. The two heroes have a whirlwind romance and later conceive a child, which they're over the moon about.

5. Stone returns to her everyday life as a medical professional but struggles with her new found fame. She has a stress induced break-down and ends up a recluse. She very rarely leaves her home, but on the rare occasions when she does, the extent of damage to her mental health is clearly on display.
