FANS of the bestseller were excited to wake up to the news that the first trailer for the highly anticipated movie had been released. The only problem? It was a fake.

WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT - What was thought to be the first trailer for the highly anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey movie has been revealed to be a fake.

Fans were quick to pick up on a few key discepancies in the faux footage including the fact that “50” was written numerically in the title rather than as “Fifty” as it is in the book.

Johnson also appears with blonde hair in the trailer despite having dark hair in the film’s official poster.

The teaser appears to be an edit of footage from the star’s other films including shots of Jamie Dornan appearing in Once Upon A Time.

News reports of the yet-to-be-released teaser also said it would be “tame” and it would include dialogue between the pair. But the trailer was far from “tame”, leaving those who thought it was the real deal a little hot under the collar.

There is no word yet about when the official trailer will be released, but the film is due to hit screens on February 13 in the US next year, perfectly timed for the day before Valentines.
