Fiancee of injured stuntman grieves as he lies in coma

As Fast & Furious stuntman Joe Watts lies in a coma after falling nine metres on set, his fiancee has spoken of her shattered heart.

The fiancee of the Fast & Furious stuntman who fell 30ft (nine metres) during an on-set accident has spoken of her “shattered heart” as he lies in a coma, The Sun reports.

Daredevil Joe Watts remains in intensive care after landing on his head in front of the film’s star Vin Diesel, 52.

It is thought a safety cable snapped as he leapt off a balcony during a stunt at Warner Bros Studios in Hertsfordshire, England, on Monday.

Partner Tilly Powell, 27, who is also a stunt pro, said: “Joe has suffered a serious head injury and is in an induced coma.

“He is stable and is being monitored closely throughout the night.

“I love him so much and my heart is shattered. He has all his family and friends by his side to get him through this.”

Joe has also worked on Game of Thrones, Jurassic World and Kingsmen: The Golden Circle.

All production on Fast & Furious 9 was halted immediately after the accident and the crew sent home.

It is not known if filming has restarted.

The Health and Safety Executive has confirmed it is investigating his fall.

Shocked star Diesel was said to have choked back tears after witnessing the plunge. A source told The Sun: “He looked ashen, totally in shock and blinking back tears. He saw what happened.”

Diesel has had several brushes with tragedy in the past. His stunt double Harry O’Connor was killed filming a parasailing scene for 2002 action flick xXx.

And his Fast & Furious co-star Paul Walker died aged 40 in the passenger seat of a car that crashed off-set during filming of the franchise’s seventh film in 2013.
