Emily Blunt dissed her ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ co-star Tom Cruise in 2005

BACK in 2005, Emily Blunt said something nasty about Tom Cruise in an interview. Now she’s just done a movie with him. What did she say?

Edge of tomorrow

HOW terribly awkward.

Emma Blunt was doing an interview with The Telegraph to promote her new movie with Tom Cruise, Edge of Tomorrow, which is due out in Australia on June 5.

But at the beginning of the chat, the British actress was reminded that she hasn’t always been a big fan of her famous co-star.

“A few years ago Emily Blunt said that she would rather do badly paid theatre for the rest of her life than ever accept a role ‘as a spear carrier in a Tom Cruise movie,’” the journalist wrote.

The two movie stars seem to be getting on pretty well these days.

“I never said that!” said Blunt, “What an awful thing to say.”

But unfortunately the journalist had proof.

“I pull out the newspaper clipping (an interview in The Telegraph in 2005) and she roars with laughter,” reporter Helena de Bertodano wrote.

“That is so funny,” said Blunt, “Well, at least I’m not a spear carrier.”

Perhaps feeling a little guilty, Blunt then went on to rave about Cruise in the interview.

“That’s the wonderful thing about Tom: he doesn’t take himself that seriously and he is very self-effacing,” the 31-year-old said.

“He couldn’t care less what people think about him – that’s quite refreshing.”

Well handled Emily.
