Margot Robbie’s shocking failed audition has finally been revealed in what one casting director has referred to as one of his “favourite auditions of all time”.
Just before her breakout role in 2013’s The Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie had auditioned for an unknown role in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story: Asylum.

The casting director, Eric Dawson, revealed that Robbie was a “star” from the very start despite being unsuccessful in the audition.
“Margot is probably one of my favourite auditions of all time, and it was right before she broke out. She was such a star,” he said, speaking to Backstage.
“It was crazy, her star appeal when she walked in the room. Even though she didn’t get that role, that was one of those things as a casting director where you go: This is a star, what do we do with her?”

However, Dawson added that Robbie quickly rose to stardom after her American Horror Story season 2 audition, and as a result, wasn’t an option to hire.

“Immediately, though, she was out of the realm of possibility of hiring. But that’s really the fun part of casting, is seeing the people whose careers are just rising.”

Fans are speculating online about which role Robbie auditioned for, with some claiming she could’ve tried for the roles of Grace Bertrand (played by Lizzie Brocheré), or Sister Mary Eunice McKee (played by Lily Rabe).

Responding to the news, some commented on X – formerly known as Twitter – that the situation was a good reminder that no matter how great you might be, you can still lose out.

Another user commented that they’re taking Robbie’s failed audition as a “sign that some rejection is a redirection”.

Fans of the show have also been divided about this new intel online, with some claiming that Robbie would’ve been a great addition to the show, and others speculating that the role might have set her back and led to her being typecasted for horror roles.
One even called it “the best rejection in Margot’s career”.

Season 12 of American Horror Story, coined Delicate, is set to be released next month.

It features the controversial casting of Kim Kardashian for the role of Tanya.

Other new additions to the show include Cara Delevigne and Annabelle Dexter-Jones.

This season will also see the return of Emma Roberts, Denis O’Hare, Zachary Quinto, and Billie Lourd.
