SETH Meyers has been picked to host the Primetime Emmy Awards this August.

This will be the first time the Late Night comic will host the awards show even though Meyers has hosted the ESPY Awards in 2010 and 2011, reports The New York Post.

The telecast will take place on August 25th instead of the usual mid-September slot because of US network NBC’s commitment to Sunday Night Football.

NBC’s President of Alternative and Late Night Programming, Paul Telegdy, said in a statement, “Seth’s expertise and ease in front of a live audience during his time at SNL, as well as his comedic brilliance both as a writer and in front of the camera on SNL and Late Night, makes him the perfect choice to host the Emmys … we’ll be in great hands.”

Back in 2010, then Late Night host Jimmy Fallon hosted the Primetime Emmys and opened the show with a memorable taped opening featuring Tina Fey, Betty White, Jon Hamm and cast members from Glee singing Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run.
