It’s a dragon’s world and we’re all just living in it.

At least, that is, at the wildly popular fan event Comic-Con, which has finally returned to San Diego, California after a two-year Covid pandemic hiatus.

One of the most exciting experiences at the long-running, four-day convention is HBO’s medieval castle set-up to promote its upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon, which premieres in Australia on Binge and Foxtel August 22.

The US production company has completely transformed their Comic-Con corner into the world of Westeros for its special activation dubbed ‘A Dragon’s Den’, giving fans the rare opportunity to explore a real-life King’s Landing and sit on the brand new Iron Throne.

news.com.au was given a sneak preview of the activation on Wednesday night, local time, where we got an advanced look at what guests will be in for.

From Friday, thousands of diehard fans attending the event will be able to walk in the shoes of a Targaryen, with the ‘Dragon’s Den’ activation boasting seven stages taking punters on a journey from Dragonstone to the Red Keep and the famous Throne Room.

Binge* ambassador Christian Wilkins was one of the first people in the world to witness the spectacle, making himself at home on the epic Iron Throne.

Event-goers will also get a preview of HBO’s new augmented reality app, DracARys, which allows users to hatch and bond with their very own dragon and is available to download on the App Store from July 25.

HBO Max Originals Marketing Vice President Pia Barlow said: “We are excited to reignite the ‘Game of Thrones’ fandom and franchise by bringing Westeros back to Comic-Con after a three-year hiatus.

“We’re creating an immersive experience that will allow old and new fans alike to engage in a unique journey, bringing them closer to the Westeros featured in the new series House of the Dragon.”
