IF you thought Amal Clooney’s gloves at the Globes were bad, wait until you check out Lady Gaga’s.

Dubbed “the most elegant meat butcher” you’ve ever seen, the newly engaged singer brought her usual amount of quirk and intrigue to the Oscars red carpet with a giant pair of red leather gloves.

While she may have picked up the gloves at Kmart, her custom Alaia gown took 25 people ten weeks and 1600 hours to make and embroider.

And of course it wasn’t long until the memes rolled out on Twitter, with Gaga and her dishwashing gloves placed in various hilarious domestic situations.

While most were scathing of the look, Gaga denied she wore the gloves to cover up her stunning engagement ring, given to her by fiance Taylor Kinney last week.

“Mr. Alaïa actually designed this before I was engaged to Taylor,” Gaga explained. “It wasn’t [strategic].”

Gaga will perform a Sound of Music tribute during the ceremony.

“I will of course have [my ring] on out in the open during the performance to give me magical powers.
