FORMER Justice Crew singer Emmanuel ‘E-Man’ Rodrigues has revealed he spent several weeks in lockdown as a back-up castmate on the first season of I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!
“I was gutted but at the same time I got to experience South Africa still.
I was definitely in lockdown and would have been the next to go in but it was whatever the storyline is and unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to go in.
Series one of I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! featured stars including Chrissie Swan, Joel Creasey, Andrew Daddo and Maureen McCormack.
Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff went in as an intruder with Julie Goodwin and he won the series.
Lockdown for Rodrigues meant no access to his phone or internet and no contact with his loved ones at home in Australia.
He had to have a series of vaccinations and stayed at a local lodge near Kruger National Park.
“I was in lockdown for six weeks, all I got to do was check out the African animals, I taught a dance workshop there with the locals and I went to the local area and played in their local soccer league,” he recalled. “Personally I think it would have been a cool experience to do I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! There was no internet, no nothing, I was like craving all kinds of different stimulation.”
Ten is yet to confirm whether or not any intruders will enter the jungle this season with rumours of Shane Warne’s ex Emily Scott being a contender.
There’s no chance of Rodrigues appearing on this series as he said he’s “off the hook”.
The 26-year-old is now focused on a new music project, Yin and Yang, and his partner is due to give birth to his second child any day now.
“She’s about to pop my next baby out,” he said. “My son is two-years-old now and that is basically the reason I left Justice Crew. Now big things are happening now for me and my DJ, we are releasing new music soon.”
