TV star almost unrecognisable as she hits red carpet for new series

She was one of the main stars of a wildly popular 2000s show – but fans could be forgiven for not recognising her at a recent event.

One of the stars of Scrubs has hit the red carpet in Hollywood looking virtually unrecognisable from her days on the beloved medical comedy.

Eliza Coupe, 43 – best known as Dr Denise Mahoney from the Zach Braff-led sitcom – turned heads in an eye-catching gold dress at the premiere of her new show, Netflix’s The Residence, on Wednesday night.

The outing came 15 years after Scrubs ended its nine-season run.

Along with her role in the hit show, Coupe is also known for playing the fiercely competitive Jane Kerkovich-Williams in Happy Endings.

Her latest project, The Residence, is a mystery drama set inside the White House staff residence.

Coupe plays Senator Margery Bay Bix in a cast which also includes Orange Is The New Black's Uzo Aduba as well as Barrett Foa, Edwina Findley, and Julieth Restrepo.

Coupe starred as Dr Denise "Jo" Mahoney on Scrubs.

She appeared alongside Braff as Dr John “J.D.” Dorian.

Meanwhile, Coupe’s outing comes just months after Braff, who starred as Dr John “J.D.” Dorian on Scrubs, hinted that a reboot is on the cards.

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight in August, he revealed his belief that it was “gonna happen”.

“I’m gonna tell you something that nobody else is gonna get,” he said.

“Scrubs is a Disney show. Bill [Lawrence, Scrubs’ creator] has a Warner Bros. deal. Once those two companies figure that out, I think the people will get what they want. I think it’s gonna happen.”

Braff added that he was keen to reunite the former cast on-screen.

“It would be so much fun [with] all my favourite people. We all still hang out. A lot of people who were on long shows say that, but it’s true,” he said. “I was just on vacation with Sarah Chalke … I’m going to the beach with Bill next weekend. We’re all friends.”

Lawrence himself has also confirmed he’s interested in continuing the show.

“I don’t want to do it as a movie, but I’m definitely open to doing a couple more years of that show. It would not only be fun to see where the characters I used to love are now, but also to see what a young doctor nowadays looks like, as far as the kids coming in behind them, you know,” he told LADBible last year.
