Stars of the highly anticipated new Australian drama series The Twelve hit the red carpet in Sydney on Thursday night for its premiere.

The new courtroom drama, commissioned by The Foxtel Group* and produced by Warner Bros and Easy Tiger Productions, stars actors Sam Neill, Marta Dusseldorp and Kate Mulvany.

It chronicles the story of 12 jurors deciding the fate of a woman named Kate Lawson (Mulvany), who stands accused of killing a child. Neill plays defence barrister Brett Colby and Dusseldorp stars as Lucy Bloom – the prosecution.

Silvia Colloca, Jenni Baird, Matt Nable, Coco Jack Gillies, Ben Mingay, Hamish Michael and Louisa Mignone round out the star-studded cast, which also includes the likes of Brooke Satchwell, Hazem Shammas, and Ngali Shaw.

New Zealand-born Neill, 74, returned to Australia to film the series, which began shooting in November, having wrapped production on Jurassic World: Dominion.

Sydney-born director Daniel Nettheim, who has directing credits on Line of Duty and Doctor Who, is behind the lens for the series, which will run for 10, one-hour episodes.

New episodes will air weekly from Tuesday, June 21 on Foxtel’s Fox Showcase channel at 8.30pm AEST, and will also be available to stream on demand afterwards.
