Social media star rocks cheeky medieval-inspired dress at GQ Men of the Year Awards

Mimi Elashiry’s medieval-meets-disco gown left little to the imagination – and looks like it might make sitting rather painful.

The naked trend well and truly lived on at last night’s GQ Men of The Year Awards.

Stars including Austin Butler, Zendaya, and Baz Luhrmann may have arrived to the Grand Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency for the snazzy event – but it was a social media star who surely turned heads as she made her way down the red carpet early in the evening.

Rocking a sheer Paco Rabanne gown with a chainlike silver skirt, influencer Mimi Elashiry’s bold look included a cheeky nether detail.

That, or she forgot her pants.

Luckily, it was a warm evening in Sydney – though we feel for her exposed skin when she sits down given the gown’s apparent chainlike texture.

Before the event, the Instagram model shared a video showcasing the glittering flesh-flashing dress to her 962,000 followers.

Elsewhere on the red carpet – sharp tailoring dominated with a slew of slick looks.

Disney actress Zendaya, who stars in Spider-Man: Far From Home, stunned in a crisp white blazer-dress with cut-out midriff.

And Jess Mauboy followed (ahem) suit with a black short pantsuit and statement silver earrings.

Fresh from the ARIAs where she stunned in a navy asymmetric gown, Sophie Monk put her best foot forward yet again – smouldering in a gold 70s-inspired number.

As for the blokes, US model Alton Mason was a shoe-in for best dressed.

And host Joel Creasey – who told The Project on Thursday before the event that he’d be delivering a vicious opening monologue – turned it up in head-to-toe Alexander McQueen.

Speaking to the current affairs program, he promised some special guests would be suitably offended.

“It is going to be a hard-core roast,” he said.

“They’ve approved all my jokes and I have added a few more they don’t know about. I’m hoping people won’t be filming but if they are I apologise in advance.”
