Nicole Kidman wears daring backless gown to Expats premiere

The Aussie star, 56, had social media in a stir when she wore this daring backless gown, complete with thigh-high split, on the red carpet.

Aussie actress Nicole Kidman looked absolutely incredible in a daring backless gown at the New York premiere of her latest streaming project overnight.

Kidman, 56, walked the red carpet at the city’s Museum of Modern Art for the premiere of her new series Expats, which launches globally on Prime Video this Friday. She wore a totally backless Atelier Versace dress.

A six-part limited series directed by The Farewell director Lulu Wang and co-executive produced by Kidman, Expats is based on the internationally best-selling novel The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee. It features Kidman in an ensemble cast, playing a well-off expat living in Hong Kong whose comfortable life is rocked by a shocking personal upheaval.

Last month, Kidman wowed the audience at Sydney’s Verona Cinema when she wore a strapless ivory gown with a thigh high slit for the series’ world premiere.

But this latest look has caused quite the stir among fans on social media.

“What time travel witchcraft is this …” asked one fan, adding of the photos: “We could be in Venice in 1999 promoting Eyes Wide Shut for all I know.”

“Nicole Kidman said we come to this place to SERVE!!!!!!” quipped another fan, referencing the star’s much-parodied AMC Theatres advertisment.

Kidman also teased reporters on the red carpet with some information about her next streaming project, a third season of the acclaimed series Big Little Lies.

She revealed that she and co-producer Reese Witherspoon had started work on the new season.

“We’re at work on it. And there’s a timeline and we’re doing it. We can’t say anything more, we’ve got to start keeping our mouths shut,” she said.

Kidman told Variety at the event that she and Witherspoon have been “texting every day” about the new season.
