New details after Kelly Rowland’s fiery clash with red carpet assistant caught on camera
New details have come to light about what caused Kelly Rowland’s blow-up with an assistant on the Cannes red carpet.
New details have emerged after footage went viral of Kelly Rowland appearing to blow up at an assistant on the red carpet at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
The former Destiny’s Child singer, 43, appeared furious as she pointed her finger and apparently scolded the staff member while walking through the entrance to the premiere of French film Marcello Mio.
The woman seemed frantic as she responded to the star.
According to the Daily Mail, insiders have now revealed that Rowland – who was dressed in a stunning red gown – became enraged as she believed the security personnel were “being aggressive” and she had “had it” with them.
“The people who are assigned to helping stars walk the red carpet were being aggressive and Kelly was trying to ignore it,” a source told the publication.
“By the time she got to the last woman she had had it because she scolded Kelly and told her to move when she was trying to wave to fans and help the paparazzi get their shot.”
They added that Rowland “doesn’t care if she comes across like a diva” as she was “advocating for herself”.
“She isn’t fake and wanted to set a clear boundary,” the insider said.
The red carpet incident comes just three months after Rowland reportedly stormed off the US Today show set, reportedly as a result of her dressing room being “not up to par”.
The abrupt exit left co-host Hoda Kotb scrambling to find a replacement, with singer Rita Ora eventually filling in at the last minute.
There were later conflicting reports about exactly why Rowland had left, with other claims that she had felt “disrespected” by Kotb’s co-host, Savanahh Guthrie, who she believed “aggressively” questioned her about former bandmate Beyonce, rather than the film she was there to promote.
A source has since denied that allegation to TMZ.
