MTV EMAs red carpet: Best and worst-dressed celebs
A feathered Rita Ora hit the red carpet with her new boyfriend Taika Waititi for this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards.
After a Covid-style show in 2020, the MTV Europe Music Awards is finally back this year in all its former glory.
A huge contingent of the music industry has gathered in Budapest, Hungary, for the ceremony – hosted by American rapper Saweetie and featuring performances by Kim Petras, Ed Sheeran, One Republic, Imagine Dragons and YUNGBLUD.
Heading into the show, Justin Bieber lead the nominations with a total of eight nods, making him the most-nominated artist, followed by Doja Cat and Lil Nas X, who were tied on six.
Leading the star-studded pack on the red carpet was Rita Ora and New Zealand director Taika Waititi, who went public with their surprise romance earlier this year:
(Can’t help but wonder how Rita planned on sitting down atop this ‘Moira Rose in The Crowening’-style outfit.)
Waititi may be the acclaimed director behind Thor: Ragnorak, JoJo Rabbit and What We Do In The Shadows, but today proved that when out with your partner, absolutely anyone can also be relegated to an Instagram Boyfriend.
Sorry to be gross, but it must be said: Ed Sheeran’s suit looked like a petri dish.
This year’s host Saweetie went full glam in a floor-length sequined number.
English singer Griff sacrificed the use of her hands for the duration of the event in the name of fashion, with footwear that looked to be the hiking boot equivalent of Crocs.
“My inspo is science, but make it fashion,” – Brazilian singer Manu Gavassi, probably.
Finnish singer Robin Packalen, also known as just Robin, really committed to his outfit’s theme.
Argentinian model Cecilia Rodriguez is wearing what appeared to be a formal sarong – a risky piece of fashion to sit down in.
The MTV EMAs ceremony is now under way on MTV on Foxtel.
